Marty Dunagan, Director & Deaf Education Teacher
Marty was born profoundly deaf in both ears. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Deaf Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she was a majorette with the Pride of the Southland Band for 4 years. She has a Master's Degree in Educational Supervision and Administration. Marty has taught deaf education, speech and language impaired children, and typically developing children for 29 years. Marty was Miss Tennessee USA in 1985. Marty has personal experience as a deaf person and as an expert of deaf education and knows what it takes to help hearing-impaired children reach their potential. She is married and has 4 children - two boys and two girls. Both of her boys had learning disabilities - one had Auditory Processing Disorder and the other one had Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) - both of which has taught her a lot about these disorders and the impact it had on the speech and language development. As a mother of these two boys - she has helped them to overcome their disabilities and knows what it takes go get them ready for school and the daily struggles they faced. She has a lot to offer parents with these disabilities.
